Last week was an intense and highly informative week of Orientation at New International’s Center for Global Outreach in Fort Myers, FL. Six new missionaries came on board including me. Three of us joined the media department, another missionary is headed to Germany to help refugees, another is headed back to South Africa to continue her ministry providing leadership and care to children and women of the Xhosa people, and one lady was joining her husband as an official affiliated missionary.

5 Takeaways from Orientation

  1. Clear mission and vision
    • Our purpose is to proclaim Christ and make disciples globally
  2. Unity in mission and purpose
    • Everyone is playing for the same team. Everyone, from the President to the Interns, are there to help each other achieve the purpose and calling God has placed in each of us.
  3. Commitment to Excellence
    • God’s standard is the highest standard. The team is committed to do all things with excellence. Doesn’t mean we have achieved that in all aspects, but that is our goal and the standard we set for every missionary.
  4. Plenty of Media Resources
    • By joining New International our family will be receiving immediate resources to help further our success and impact. Including, but not limited to free newsletters, business cards, thank you cards, giant displays, response cards, magnets, website management, unlimited Google Drive, and much more. The media team will work with us and the needs of our particular ministry, which will help us do our video ministry better.
  5. Josh’s Role
    • After orientation things are taking shape. As an experienced producer, I believe the Lord will use my knowledge and skill set to help steer the video department. I will be working on several video projects while I am finishing up raising the rest of our support. One of the first projects is to game plan how we intend to have video support to the 200+ missionaries and not overcommit ourselves. I will also be working with different ministries inside New International like Ends of Earth Cycling www.endscycling.com to help promote them through video support.

What’s Next

We will continue support raising in Alabama while we live at the missionary house. Our plan is to find partners who believe in the power of media to influence, inspire, and encourage people. God has kept this vision and given us focus to provide for the missionaries with this incredible resource. Please continue to pray so together we can grow His Kingdom!

September Ministry Update

Our last day in Ohio was August 28. It has been an amazing 14 years of building relationships that will last a lifetime.

Off we go! We said good bye to all our Toledo friends at the end of August and headed down south to begin the next leg of this exciting journey.

We are now on the next phase of the transition to the missionary life. Some amazing friends in Alabama invited us to stay with them after we sold our home in Ohio. Their church, Wall Highway Baptist Church, opened up their Missionary Home to our family so we can stay there rent-free while we continue seeking new ministry partners.

So what’s next? On Sunday, Josh leaves for missionary training at the New International campus in Fort Myers, Florida. He’ll be joined by several other new missionaries and the core staff at New International as they pour their experience into all the new adventurers. He’ll learn about finances, partnership development, and vision casting; and he’ll start planning his first video projects for the organization.

Financial Progress Update

We’ve had the privilege to meet with many individuals and churches over the past couple months. Currently, we are over 50% of our goal! We still have many contacts to make and meetings to schedule. God has opened so many doors and the outpouring of support encourages us to keep pressing on!

As we meet with people to explain our new path, we have been encouraged and inspired to hear how God is working in their lives as well. God is moving His people to action. Calling His people to have the audacity to believe His word and then act as though He will honor His Word.

Passion for Storytelling

So, why did I leave my great job to become a storyteller for missionaries? Ultimately, it was the passion for hearing and sharing how God works in unique and unquestionably supernatural ways throughout the world.

When you hear the phrase “only God”, when there’s no other explanation, it’s exciting and inspiring. Like when Joshua (Bible Joshua) asked God to make the sun stand still, or when Peter walked on the water. There is no other way “but God.”

I’ve been privileged to have the opportunity to film and edit many testimonials of individuals making life-changing decisions because God got a hold of them in a special way. In being a part of a team to produce this content, I wanted even more to tell stories of God impacting lives. When I was asked to consider filming and telling missionary stories, I was excited at the opportunity to produce more videos of God’s goodness. I am looking forward to produce more “God Stories” of missionaries throughout the world.

Currently, New International has over 240 missionaries serving in over 40 countries! There is a great need and I believe He directed this opportunity to me and to our entire family. My responsibilities would include producing testimonials, promos, social videos and much more. I would also develop the video department in order to keep up with the demand for storytelling through video. I would travel to the missionaries to record their stories and then edit them back at home base in Fort Myers, Florida. I would also train new missionaries who have a desire to serve through video production. This spoke to my core desire to serve God in a very special way and thats is why we said yes to this calling!

New International will use the videos to grow awareness of the organization, promote their vision and purpose, and ultimately carry out the Great Commission. Missionaries around the globe will use these videos to promote their ministry, encourage believers, expand their outreach, and be more effective for Christ.
